La Salle’s Ramon Galloway has a concussion and will miss Tuesday’s game at Villanova, the university announced Saturday.

Galloway was injured in the Explorers’ season-opening win over Lafayette on Friday night.

The junior guard, a Philadelphia native who transferred from South Carolina, was playing in his first game for the Explorers when he was hurt with 2 minutes, 7 seconds remaining in the first half while defending against Ryan Willen.

He was immobilized in a neck brace and body straps and taken to a local hospital. He was released Friday night.

“We’re obviously pleased that it was nothing catastrophic,” La Salle coach John Giannini said Saturday.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Galloway appeared to have movement in his arms and legs Friday, and Giannini said the player was able to respond verbally to the team’s training staff.

Galloway said via Twitter on Saturday afternoon that he was up and moving and feeling good.

“He’s tender to the spot and kind of like when you get hit in the back of the neck like that, it’s like being in a car accident and you have general soreness,” Giannini said.

The Explorers handily defeated Lafayette, 79-53.
